This was my second visit. Great place to meet with friends and listen to live music. I see a the American equivalent of a British pub, but much more colorful and cozy. Good selection of tasty comfort food, excellent service, good assortment of draft beers, pool table next to a generously sized area for bands and open mics to play. I have seen a cozy and colorful outdoor patio area, but in both of my visits the rain prevented enjoying it. Wonderful hosts!

This place is pretty awesome & doesn't try to be something it's not. It's a true local dive bar that has been around longer than I've been a live. When you walk inside you're transported back in time to the days when bars provided more than just a place for people to get drunk. They have so many old school games & the largest shuffle board I've ever seen! I even caught a glimpse of an ancient artifact (pictured) while scoping the place out. How cool is it that they still have a pay phone?!?! Yes, it was a bummer that it didn't actually work, but still!! The outdoor space is unbelievable. They added this "Beach Yard" not too long ago & the thing is crazy. It's like being at a beach bar (minus the ocean & forgiving the fact that it's in the middle of a city) complete with sand and a treasure chest. Plus, they have live music outside in the summer and you can enjoy it with an ice-cold beer. Okay last, but CERTAINLY NOT LEAST, this place gets a 5-star because they probably haven't change their prices since prohibition! They have $2 cans of bud, bud lt, & coors on Tuesdays and $4 GIANT glasses of house wine on Wednesday. I met the owners & they said they didn't grow up with money and they want people to be able to enjoy a night out no matter their situation. I highly recommend you check it out if you want a place you can just show up to and be yourself. No glitz or glam, just the glory. A place to grab a beer, play the bowling game for a quarter, and grab some traditional pub food that isn't straight from the freezer. Did I mention the outdoor space?!? Anyways, I promise you'll love this place if you want to be a true localist and support small business. If you're searching for a trendy spot to grab a craft IPA and an organic, non-fat, gluten-free, vegan, kale salad... You'll hate this place.

I love this bar... the bartenders know your name, what you drink, and no matter how busy they are always have smile in their face. Usually go when there is open mic night. Food is basic bar Faire however is very fresh and there is an ample amount. I can't wait till the summer months because there is a sandy beach for us to hang out on and party and listen to great music.

Railroad themed, tavern style bar in the bottom level of a local, extended stay inn. Steps from the Dutchess County Rail Trail. Down home feeling and working class atmosphere. Not unusual to see the prison guards and Sanatation workers or the local Bishops grabbing a drink after work. This bar always seems busiest for after-work happy hour specials. While they offer a full bar and have experienced bartenders, this is the place you go for 2$ domestic cans or an order or chicken fingers. This is one of my personal favorite places to go when you need the "Cheers" everybody is always glad you came experience. Most likely you have stories about this bar that have not been true in 25 years. Come give this place a second chance. You might be suprised.

I live in walking distance. All of my neighbors go there and we all walk - no DWIs lol. The service is great and we love the music. They could use a new tv in back but no big deal. Love the people working there. .

This railroad-themed tavern captures the heart of a true local gathering spot—where everyone knows your name, and the atmosphere is both cozy and colorful. It’s a place where generations converge, from sanitation workers to local clergy, all drawn by the warm and unpretentious vibe.

What truly sets The Hopewell Inn apart is its dedication to simplicity and genuine hospitality.
